WARE MALCOMB-DESIGNED LEOPOLD BROS DISTILLERY IN DENVER WINS DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR AWARD

Denver, Colo. (May 12, 2015) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, provided architectural design services for the new Leopold Bros. distillery located at 5285 Joliet Street in Denver. Leopold Bros., which moved into the new facility last year, was recently named Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute at the annual Spirits Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

Leopold Bros. is a family owned and operated small batch distillery in which environmental sustainability is a daily practice. The sustainable elements built into the new facility design include using reclaimed wood for the floor, top of the bar, and the tables in the Tasting Room. The table tops are made from old railroad box cars, while the brass lighting fixtures in the Tasting Room were salvaged from an old ship.

Ware Malcomb designed the main 20,331 square foot production facility as well as a separate 8,743 square foot barrel storage building. The production facility includes 2,182 square feet of office, 2,837 square feet of storage, 14,017 square feet of fabrication space, and a 1,295 square foot mercantile/tasting room.

“We wanted to create a unique and inviting space for the public to come and experience what Leopold Bros. is all about, while also meeting the technical requirements for a top-of-the-line production facility,” said Matt Chaiken, Regional Director of Ware Malcomb’s Denver office. “The offices, ample storage areas, and separate barrel storage building complete the design. We are confident Leopold Bros. will enjoy their new home here in Denver for many years to come.”

The general contractor for the project was Murray & Stafford, Inc.
