WARE MALCOMB ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE ON MARTIGNETTI COMPANIES HEADQUARTERS
CHICAGO and BOSTON (February 9, 2017) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced construction is complete on the new Martignetti Companies corporate headquarters located at 500 John Hancock Road in Taunton, Mass. Ware Malcomb provided architecture and interior design services for the build to suit project.
Managed out of Ware Malcomb’s Chicago office, alongside the firm’s Boston-based staff members, this innovative development project will be featured as an Impact Project at the I.CON Industrial Real Estate 2017 conference to be held March 8-9, 2017 in Toronto by the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association. Ware Malcomb Regional Director Cameron Trefry will present the project at the conference.
The new corporate headquarters for Martignetti Companies, the leading distributer of wines and spirits in New England, includes 139,000 square feet of Class A office and 541,000 square feet of distribution warehouse space with a 40’ clear height. The project consolidated the operations of two existing facilities into one new centralized corporate headquarters, as well as a new warehouse that integrates the wine and spirits industry’s most advanced material handling systems and technologies.
Ware Malcomb created a sophisticated, tailored east-coast feel to provide a modern environment for employees and guests which embraces the company’s brand. The lobby features a double-story atrium, monumental staircase, and a glass operable partition to the adjoining spirits tasting/event space. The office layout was designed to accommodate the company’s mobile sales force as well as resident staff in a flexible, collaborative, and innovative way. Multiple sales teams have dedicated training rooms and conference areas for onsite training and collaboration. The interior design also includes a large café with honor system catering and lounge seating with wireless internet.
The project, which is expected to achieve LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, includes a 300,000-square foot roof solar array and employs hydrogen fuel cell technology for the material handling equipment through on-site hydrogen generation. The warehouse utilized a ductilcrete slab on grade system, which allows a reduced slab thickness and expanded control joints out to the column bay.
The new headquarters is located in Taunton, Massachusetts, halfway between Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. This unique location provides excellent access to both metropolitan areas, and ample freeway access for distribution around New England. The site’s many amenities include two new mass transit authority bus stops, a large outdoor employee patio with ample seating, and bike racks. A walking path is also accessible from the east entrance that stretches throughout the 118-acre site, which is available to employees for outdoor recreation.
“This project combines a collaborative office environment with a state-of-the-art distribution warehouse in a stunning new environment ideally situated for Martignetti’s operations,” said Cameron Trefry, Regional Director of Ware Malcomb’s Chicago office. “The many innovations incorporated throughout the space, including a number of sustainable features, ensure this facility will meet the needs of Martignetti Companies for many years to come.”
The general contractor was Suffolk Construction.
