WARE MALCOMB ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF STEMCYTE FACILITY

LOS ANGELES (September 29, 2015) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm based in Southern California, today announced that construction is complete on a new 48,000 square foot facility for StemCyte, a specialized provider of umbilical cord blood collection, processing and storage. Ware Malcomb provided interior and architecture design services for the company’s relocation and tenant improvement of its new facility located at 13800 Live Oak Avenue in Baldwin Park, Calif.

StemCyte relocated from its former location at 1589 West Industrial Park Street in Covina into the new, larger facility in Baldwin Park in order to accommodate the company’s anticipated growth over the next 10 years.

In addition to 15,000 square feet of office space, the new facility includes a large-scale cleanroom, cryogenic storage, state-of-the-art product processing and storage areas, warehouse, shipping/receiving area, learning center, and liquid nitrogen tank storage and distribution space. The new facility will also allow StemCyte to improve its distribution channels with five dock-high doors and one ground-level door. The Baldwin Park facility was built in 1987 and has 24-foot clear height, 800 amps (277/480 volts), and 93 parking spaces.

“Our goal was to preserve the best aspects of the existing structure even as we completely transformed the space for its new purpose,” said Anita Makwana, Director, Interior Architecture and Design for Ware Malcomb’s Los Angeles office. “This new facility design meets all of StemCyte’s technical specifications, while at the same time providing an inviting office environment for the company’s employees.”

The General Contractor for the project was Norm Wilson & Sons, Inc.
