Ware Malcomb ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF QUIDEL CORPORATE OFFICE

San Diego, California (November 19, 2014) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced the completion of the new corporate headquarters of Quidel Corporation at One Del Mar in San Diego. Ware Malcomb provided interior architectural and design services for the project. The tenant representative broker was Hughes Marino and the General Contractor was Prevost Construction.

The new corporate office of Quidel, a leading manufacturer of diagnostic healthcare solutions, houses the company’s executive team and administrative offices in approximately 30,000 square feet. The company’s manufacturing facility will continue to operate out of its existing location at 10165 McKellar Court, San Diego.

“This was an exciting move for Quidel from a space dominated by private offices and high-paneled furniture into an open, flexible space that better reflects their corporate brand and identity,” said Tiffany English, Principal for Ware Malcomb. “We’ve designed an office interior that will help bring various departments together in a creative and comfortable environment.”

The office features a light open workstation, collaborative areas and alternate work spaces. Most of the private offices are located on the interior core, allowing everyone access to exterior windows and daylight. Office and conference rooms are lined with glass walls and doors to enhance the open feeling. The ceiling at the open collaborative spaces is lowered with exposed structure at the edge. This detail follows the organic curve of the building and defines the shared collaborative spaces.

A large conference room is located directly off the reception area with operable partitions to allow flexibility of the space to be divided into three smaller conference rooms. Modular furniture allows for ease of movement of tables and chairs. A/V capabilities in each conference room coordinate with the window coverings, and there are two open video-conference tables. At the core there is a large training room that can be divided into two rooms. The design provided for an environment that allows all employees access to natural light and a more productive work process flow.

Quidel’s new space provides a branded environment defining Quidel’s culture. The work environment provides flexibility allowing Quidel the ease of use, providing areas for team and task oriented work while allowing full connectivity between all departments.
