Shade Hotel Redondo Beach

Civil engineering and architectural design services for a 3-story 50,000 SF 54-room boutique hotel and 3-story 11,600 SF event center. Both buildings are wood framed with smooth plaster finish and frosted glass railings throughout, and include Shade Hotel signature features such as whale-bone fins and high sloping roof elements with stainless steel fascias. The hotel building has a signature granite entry portal and includes guestrooms, a library, meeting room and roof deck pool. The event building includes a lounge, a ball room and roof deck event space.

Developed by owner and restaurateur Michael Zislis, this is Shade’s second location in one of California’s premier beach communities. The hotel sits on the water’s edge and is located between the marina and the bicycle strand. The original Shade in Manhattan Beach, Calif. is that city’s only luxury boutique hotel and is listed by Condé Nast Traveler as the #6 reason to visit LA.
