Ware Malcomb Gets Creative with Virtual Fundraising for a Good Cause

The global pandemic required the world to shift not only the way we work and live, but the way we give. Ware Malcomb’s culture is rooted in community, wellness and philanthropy and our teams participate in a variety of charity events every year. With the limitations on in person events, we had to get creative in fundraising and participating in the 2021 Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) Reach for the Cure event.

PCRF, an organization founded in 1982 by physicians, parents and community leaders, has raised over $47 Million for cancer research and invests in leading edge research that demonstrates the best hope for a cure to childhood cancer.

In our tenth year supporting this special cause, our firm hit new a record thanks to the inventive fundraising efforts held during this unusual time. More than 70 Ware Malcomb team members, family and friends joined together to raise more than $10,500 to help fund research that aims to one day end pediatric cancer.

The main event, which included a “virtual” 5K walk and run concluded on May 16 with Ware Malcomb team members participating across the country. While some offices got together to complete the walk together, others recruited their family and friends to walk in their own neighborhoods. By providing these options, more people were able to participate, no matter where they were located and at their own comfort level.

Leading up to the big event, Ware Malcomb hosted multiple fundraising events to raise money for PCRF. From virtual bingo games, a paint & sip night done over zoom, and a virtual raffle for the chance at a paid vacation day all brought out a great showing of support from across the company.

Our most successful fundraising event was an online silent auction. Donated items including experiences, sports memorabilia, clothing, jewelry, art and more, helped Ware Malcomb surpass our fundraising goal. Without being able to hold traditional fundraising events, our team was still able to engage our teams across offices while giving back to an important cause.
