Transforming the Workplace
Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture and design services for the recently completed renovation and remodel of DB Schenker’s 15,000 SF office space located in Lakewood, Colorado. DB Schenker is a transportation and logistics company that operates in over 130 countries around the world. Visit their website at www.dbschenker.com.
The main goal of the project was to transform the workplace in order to improve the employee experience and increase recruitment and retention. Through the use of colors, materials, and natural lighting we were able to enhance the work environment. We utilized the concepts of open work plans and shared collaborative areas to create an innovative and functional office space. The office was designed around a large break room area that serves as a central “town hall” and allows large groups of people to gather and work together.
Employee interviews were conducted to help with the total reconfiguring of the office interior. With efficient space planning, room for 10 additional workstations was created within the existing building footprint.
The new space includes a reconfigured data center, three executive offices, three flex offices, conference rooms, and open office areas. In addition, fun and creative zones like the game room and coffee bar foster a positive work atmosphere. We salvaged and re-purposed two shipping containers and ski-lodge gondolas to house visitor offices and huddle rooms, which have become DB Schenker’s favorite areas to work.
