The 1st “Ditch the Desk for Charity” Step Challenge Fundraiser

As part of Ware Malcomb’s WM Active and Culture Designed to Care programs, the firm participated in a team step challenge called “Ditch the Desk for Charity”. Over 260 team members across our offices participated using the Charity Miles phone application to track their steps and raise money. Our offices walked, biked, ran and jogged to raise funds for their local communities. The fundraiser was a great way to stay healthy and active while supporting a charity of their choice.

All of our participants combined logged a total of 13,367 miles raising over $2,800 during the month of August! The overall fundraising team award went to the Southern California region for logging over 4,900 miles. The overall fundraising team member award went to our Denver office’s Director, Civil Engineering, Ted Swan, for logging 330 miles. Amazing job to everyone that participated! We are already planning and looking forward to our next firm-wide step challenge scheduled in October.

Ware Malcomb supported the step challenge efforts by donating to each office’s local United Way chapter. These donations provide beneficial support to United Way programs, which fight for health, financial, and educational stability, especially during these challenging times.

Our WM Active program promotes health, fitness, community and philanthropy activities in all of our offices. Our Culture Designed to Care program celebrates our culture of giving and provides a renewed focus on doing even more. This program is an initiative that expands and strengthens our support of local charities and includes a companywide campaign supporting United Way.
