NeoCon 2015: Throwback Thursday
As summer is winding down we want to remind you about all the new trends Ware Malcomb saw at NeoCon. NeoCon 2015 took place at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago from June 15-17th. Ware Malcomb representatives across the country attended the event. We assembled a compilation of major trends we saw that we have been incorporating and want to share.
Here is a list of the top 5 trends from NeoCon we loved (in no particular order):
1. Multifunctional Furniture
Furniture that allows for flexibility, fun and functionality all in one was definitively on trend this year at NeoCon! The Brody WorkLounge, one of our favorites, considers productivity and efficiency while maximizing ergonomic comfort.
2. Natural, Deconstructed Finishes
Natural, deconstructive finishes were the theme for this year’s NeoCon. From flooring to textiles, patterns and movements mimicked the organic lines found throughout nature. Patcraft’s Deconstructed Carpet Collection stood out due to the exposure of the primary backing beneath the fiber to reveal a unique effect!
3. Pop of Color
Our Irvine office particularly loved the neutral, pastel colors being shown. They are looking forward to incorporating the idea of bringing the comforts of home into their West Coast designs.
Everyone particularly loved Shaw’s “The Park” collection… filled with bright colors mixed within great neutrals. This product would ease transitions between open office carpet areas and break-out spaces seamlessly.
The use of bright, colored wall systems to spice up spaces was very intriguing. A small use of color makes a big impact for any space.
4. Third Party Space
Third party space can allow for individual, social and collaborative work to occur while still bringing in the comfort of home into the workplace. It allows an individual to get away from the standard office configuration of a desk or conference room, while still being a functional space for work. We loved these oversized ottomans from Teknion. They can even have USB power!
5. Flexible Office Space
We love the idea of demanding more from a private office to save on real estate costs. Team members from all of our offices particularly enjoyed Tuohy’s WorkStyles collection of adaptable case goods with integrated lounge capabilities. This system makes switching from personal, heads-down work to collaborative, group work very simple. Plus- it’s a beautiful design that takes a typical workstation a step further! Great way to respond to constant change of how people work. Adaptability is key!
