From Client Collaboration Comes the Essence of a Brand

In 2006 Ware Malcomb was selected to design Pacific Life Insurance Company’s new office tower in Aliso Viejo creating the city’s tallest building. Six years, and over nine projects later, Ware Malcomb was thrilled at the opportunity to design the renovation of  45,000 square feet of office space for the well-renown insurance provider’s Newport Beach headquarters.

Collaborating closely with Pacific life, a Contemporary Classic and subtle nautical theme was chosen for the design style. Oceanic imaging was incorporated throughout the space as a symbol of Pacific Life’s logo, the whale, through water features, unique art, and sculptures.

Featuring neutral pallets with accents of cerulean blue, and dark cherry wood were incorporated throughout the 5th floor Executive Wing and Corporate Departments. Ware Malcomb provided several mock-ups of the design so Pacific Life could make well informed decisions on the final selections.

The state-of-the-art boardroom includes two large plasma TVs, rear projection, sound systems, high-end video conferencing, and a custom cherry wood conference room table. All of the materials and furniture products were viewed prior to purchase to ensure our client’s design and functionality objectives were being met.

One of the most unique features of the project was the outdoor 5th floor patio. Before the redesign, this space was a simple roof deck with only a slab of concrete and limited sun protection.   Pacific Life’s vision was to create a true amenity for hosting company events. Bringing this idea to life, Ware Malcomb incorporated casual seating and teak furniture, an expansive retractable awning, and a bronze baby whale sculpture. This new oasis has captured the essence of the Pacific Life brand.

Pacific Life understands the importance of quality and long-term value when working with our designers. Throughout the project there was a great deal of collaboration between the entire team, including Pacific Life, Ware Malcomb, Turelk (the General Contractor), the furniture company, and consultants. A long-standing relationship with Pacific Life and their constant involvement throughout the project has played a significant role in the success of this project.
