Creative Office Space Showcasing Innovative Design

Stamps.com Corporate Headquarters Designed by Ware MalcombStamps.com is the leading provider of Internet-based postage services. Stamps.com’s service enables small businesses, high volume shippers, enterprise shippers, and consumers to print U.S. Postal Service-approved postage with just a computer, printer and internet connection, right from their home or office.

With the company’s growth and need for expansion, Stamps.com purchased Grand Avenue Plaza in El Segundo, California. Stamps.com’s main goals for the new headquarters were to promote collaboration and teaming. Ware Malcomb was hired to provide architecture, interior architecture and design, and graphic design services to turn their vision into reality.

The Ware Malcomb Los Angeles team took on the challenge to transform the two existing 3-story office buildings into one connected creative space. The new hardscape entry design includes an impactful water feature that provides a grand sense of arrival. Large expanses of a two-story curtain wall capture the space between the two existing buildings. Structural glazing was used for the stair tower with a free- standing cast in place concrete wall that allowed the stairs to cantilever from.

The main core of the existing buildings was redesigned to provide a more efficient layout. The project also included 60,000 square feet of corporate office tenant improvements and exterior remodel of the entire building while occupied by Stamps.com’s employees.

The headquarters features glass box suspended conference rooms, an interactive cafeteria collaborative lounge areas, as well as a fitness center and a roof deck for employee enjoyment.

An open floor plan was achieved by lowering the horizon line of the workstations. Natural daylight is captured by a central skylight and large sidelites at the private office and conference room facades. Column-free spiral glass stairs with reclaimed wood treads were installed under the central skylight to act as sculptural element and to allow for vertical circulation.

In addition, Ware Malcomb’s wm | graphics studio, provided interior branded graphics, signage design, and graphic design services.

Ware Malcomb had the honor of working with Stamps.com, KPRS Construction Services, and many other talented companies to bring this project to life!
