Laying the Foundation for a Community: Baja Challenge 2015

Ware Malcomb participated in the 2015 Baja Challenge this past October, marking the 16th year in a row that our employees have teamed up to build a new home for a family in Mexico.  This year, members of our San Diego office were once again joined by Trazo Drafting ServicesD.A. Whitacre, Patcraft, and Vesta, who donated the funds for the build.

Every year we try to take it up a notch and this year’s build day was no exception. The building process went seamlessly and the family had their new home in no time!

Beginning with just the concrete foundation, we framed out the walls, roof, and even a mezzanine level with stairs.  Our friends at Patcraft were generous enough to donate carpeting for the entire house.

Each year Ware Malcomb tries to go above and beyond to do something special for the family.  This year, we built a custom kitchen counter with shelving, and stocked it full of groceries and household supplies!

Ware Malcomb has been involved in the Baja Challenge since it began in 1999. Ware Malcomb Designer, Savana Batt, participated in her 5th Baja Challenge this year.  She shares, “The Baja Challenge is a great event, and a great opportunity for us to give back through our field of expertise and partner with others in the industry every year.  It is amazing to see how much of a difference we can make in one day”.
