Design Inspiration Featured in Impactful Entry Space Series

Ware Malcomb’s award-winning Stamps.com project was featured in GPI Design’s Impactful Entry Space blog series. GPI Design is a firm specializing in the creation of backlit architectural features.

In the blog post Sarah Walker, Project Designer at Ware Malcomb, is interviewed about the design inspiration behind the Stamps.com lobby located in El Segundo, California.

Ware Malcomb provided full service architectural, interior design and branding services for the Stamps.com corporate headquarters renovation. The 100,000 SF project included transforming two adjacent, 3-story office buildings into the new headquarters.  The 1980’s era buildings were renovated with white metal panel and high performance glass to create a contemporary image; all while being occupied by existing tenants. Through the design, the two buildings were connected via a new two-story 18,000 SF high end lobby/entry space and entry plaza. The new offices include open office, conference rooms, a cafeteria, lounge area and other employee amenities, as well as an 8,000 SF call center. The main core of the existing building was revised to provide upgraded building services and a more efficient space layout in order to create a more collaborative office environment.

This project was awarded a 2014 Los Angeles Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Award for Best Office Project. The Ware Malcomb Los Angeles office designed this project, and will be moving to Downtown LA in the Fall.

In the Impactful Entry Space blog, Sarah explains the creative details used and the challenges faced while transforming the traditional lobby into an interactive foyer setting.
