Why We Train for PCRF?

At the heart of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) is funding research that leads to curing childhood cancers. Ware Malcomb supports PCRF’s vision to bring hope and lifesaving treatments to children battling cancer. This is why we train.

Since 1982, the Foundation has raised over $30 million for innovative pediatric cancer research. This research has led to continuing improvements in the care, quality-of-life, and higher survival rates of children with malignant diseases.

PCRF is privately supported through donations from individuals, charitable foundations, and businesses. Of every dollar raised, 80% goes directly to research that impacts countless young lives.

This year marks the second year the Ware Malcomb Warriors (a volunteer group of Ware Malcomb employees) are supporting PCRF’s mission by participating in the “Reaching for The Cure, Run & Ride” events to be held on March 29 and 30, 2014! http://www.kintera.org/htmlcontent.asp?cid=644742

Our team, the Ware Malcomb Warriors’, 2014 PCRF fundraising campaign goal was to raise $3,000 and as of March 18, we have raised $3,589! We exceeded our goal with help from our key sponsors, Steelcase and Turelk.

Turelk, a tenant improvement contractor (www.turelk.com) and Steelcase Inc., a global company that develops and manufactures furniture, interior architecture, and technology products and services for corporate offices (www.steelcase.com), both made generous donations to our Ware Malcomb Warriors team fundraising efforts for PCRF.

There is still time to join our team’s fight against childhood cancer! Here’s how:

  • Register to join our team to run, walk or bike alongside a Ware Malcomb Warrior.
  • Show your support by making a donation to our team goal.

Led by PCRF fundraiser committee co-chairs, Eric Namisniak and Bryan Walker, and with the help of committee members Ruth Brajevich, Leslie Espiritu, Alison Rodberg, Julie Sanchez, Melissa Wehrberg, Jessica Scott, Nicholas Manalo and Maureen Bissonnette, the Ware Malcomb Warriors have been actively participating in and contributing to various fundraising events. Some of the FUNdraising events have included off-site lunches, a happy hour golf tournaments, and a day-off raffle.
