WARE MALCOMB ANNOUNCES PROJECT COMPLETION OF DB SCHENKER OFFICES IN LAKEWOOD

Greenwood Village, Colo. (March 25, 2015) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced the completion of DB Schenker’s redesigned office and data room in Lakewood, Colo. Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture and design services for the renovation and remodel of approximately 15,000 square feet of office space for DB Schenker, the global provider of transportation and logistics services operating in 130 countries.

The project involved a complete interior redesign that utilizes innovative colors, materials and natural light in the facility’s new open plan. The goal was to transform the space to enhance the employee experience and improve recruitment and retention. The new space includes a reconfigured data center, executive offices, flex offices, open office area, two large conference rooms equipped with video conferencing, two smaller conference rooms, huddle rooms, and storage. The unique use of shipping containers, gondolas, reclaimed airplane materials and more for huddle rooms, personal work areas and meeting space gives the office a distinct style.

Within the same footprint as the original building, Ware Malcomb incorporated future employee workstations. Fun and creative employee zones – including a game room, coffee bars and a central “town hall” break room area for large groups of people to gather and work together – were added. Additional square footage within the building was captured by moving to a new open and collaborative office design and culture. A new lighting control system featuring sensors that integrate with roof solar tubes provide consistent light levels depending on amount of natural light throughout the day.

“This project is an example of a functionally designed space through our utilization of open work plan concepts and shared collaborative areas,” said Matt Chaiken, Regional Director of Ware Malcomb’s Denver office. “The result is an office environment that is both productive and engaging for employees.”

The general contractor for the project was i2 Construction.
